A Legionella Risk Assessment is a health and safety requirement for just about any building that has a water supply including domestic rented properties.

Protecting employees, visitors and the wider public from the risk of Legionella is a legal requirement under health & safety law. These requirements are found in the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Act (COSHH) 2002 & The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

In support of these legal requirements in November 2013 the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) released the 4th edition of the Approved Code of Practice for the Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems commonly called ACOP L8 and technical guidance HSG 274. The code of practice has been released by the HSE with the consent of the Secretary of State. It gives practical advice on how to comply with the law.

The HSE's ACOP L8 requires that all those involved in the assessment of Legionella be technically competent. This training course has been written by our team of Trust Mark Certified risk assessors. Trust Mark is the UK's only Government Endorsed Competent Person Scheme so you can be assured of the quality of the course.

So that you can demonstrate your understanding of the course material there is a series of multiple choice assessments throughout the course. Each test has a pass mark of 70% with a maximum of 5 attempts at each test.

On successful completion of the course you will receive a course certificate which is valid for a period of two years. The certificate is only valid for two years to meet the HSE's ACOP L8 requirement for regular training.
